2011 Results
This past Saturday, Mathews Rotary Club’s 5th Annual Rockfish Tournament was hosted by Morningstar Marina at Cricket Hill. The tournament is always scheduled for the second weekend in December, however this year the weather didn’t cooperate and the tournament was postponed one week. The weather wasn’t much better this weekend and kept all but 19 anglers off the water, and unfortunately, neither was the fishing.
Congratulations to the winners:
1st Place $1,100 went to Buck Saulman from Gloucester fishing off of Billy Flippin’s “30 Pack” brought in a 28.6 lbs 43 1/2 “ in length.
2nd Place $900 went to Chris Taylor from Mechanicsville fishing off of “Never Satisfied” brought in a 7.56 lbs 26 3/4” in length
3rd place $700 went to Tracy Elliott from Mathews fishing off of “Amber Marie” brought in a 3.66 lbs 22” in length.
We thank our generous sponsors and the loyal hearty anglers for participating again this year. The club wants to thank Jerry Thrash for all of his assistance in the past, as his store, Queens Creek Outfitters, closes its doors. This is a big loss for the fishing community.
